The story takes place in the year 2046, in a world where the virtual is omnipresent, thanks in particular to"neuro-linkers".the main character is called Haruyuki, or simply Haru to his friends and family, and is the butt of the bullies at his high school. His only pleasure is a virtual game resembling squash, in which he excels... until the day he is beaten by a mysterious girl. The girl turns out to be Kuroyukihime, a member of the student council, and the reason she beat his score is to ask for his help. Haru being somewhat hesitant, she introduces him to a curious game,"Brain Burst", which turns out to be much more than just a game: those who possess this software are able to transfer themselves into a virtual world where 1 second in the real world corresponds to 16 minutes and 40 seconds. But to keep this power, you have to fight, and earn points. Haru's adventure in this new world is just beginning.
