In the near future, every household has a domestic android, called a "techno-sapiens". In Jake's family, his name is Yang, and he acts as tutor, friend and confidant to Mika, an adopted daughter of Chinese origin.

Written, produced and directed by Kogonada, After Yang is an American science-fiction film released in 2021. It is an adaptation of the American short story Saying Goodbye to Yang by Alexander Weinstein. The film was presented in the Un certain regard section at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival.
