Lynley and Barbara Havers return in search of a missing child in Tuscany.
Sergeant Barbara Havers is devastated. Hadiyyah, the daughter of her dear friend Azhar, has been abducted by her mother, and no legal proceedings are possible. Azhar never married Angelina and the child does not bear her name.
While Azahar despairs, Angelina finally resurfaces with alarming news: Hadiyyah has been kidnapped in a Tuscan market square.
