Seven-year-old Wen is vacationing with her parents Eric and Andrew by a secluded lake. One afternoon, while she's having fun catching grasshoppers, a young man appears in the driveway. Although imposing, she finds him immediately likeable. After playing and chatting with the child for a while, the stranger abruptly declares: "None of what's going to happen is your fault." Then three strangers appear, armed with strange weapons. Eric and Andrew barricade themselves with Wen, but the newcomers insist on offering them a deal: they need them to save the world.
